Police Approved Gun Cabinets & Safes for UK Firearms Owners
Secure your firearms with confidence and ensure full legal compliance with our range of Police Approved gun cabinets. Whether you are applying for your first shotgun certificate or expanding a rifle collection, our high-security safes are fully certified to British Standard BS 7558/92, the gold standard for UK firearm security.
We stock a comprehensive selection of Brattonsound gun safes, ranging from compact 2-gun cabinets to extra-deep rifle safes designed to accommodate large optics and silencers. Every cabinet in our collection features reinforced steel construction and high-security locking systems to provide uncompromising protection for your home.

In the UK, the Home Office requires that firearms and shotguns are stored securely to prevent unauthorised access. While the law does not strictly mandate a specific brand, the industry standard is a cabinet that complies with British Standard BS 7558/92. All the cabinets we stock at Countryway Gunshop meet or exceed these police-approved security levels.
Your cabinet should be bolted to a solid brick or concrete wall (avoiding partition walls where possible) and hidden from the view of casual visitors. It must be installed within the main dwelling; the police generally do not approve installations in garages or outbuildings unless they have significant additional security measures.
Yes. As part of your Shotgun (SGC) or Firearm Certificate (FAC) application or renewal, a Firearms Enquiry Officer (FEO) will visit your home to inspect your security arrangements. They will check that the cabinet is securely anchored and located in a discreet area.
Standard shotgun cabinets are often too shallow for rifles with large optics or bipods. We recommend choosing an "extra-deep" cabinet. A common tip from our Kent showroom team: always buy a cabinet with a slightly higher capacity than your current collection to allow for future purchases!
If you hold a Firearm Certificate (FAC), your ammunition must be stored securely and separately from your rifles. Many of our cabinets (like the RL7 or Sentinel Plus range) feature an internal "locking top" or "coffer" which satisfies this requirement within a single unit. Shotgun cartridges do not legally require a safe, but it is highly recommended to keep them locked away.
